Andrzej Sapkowski Says a New Witcher Book Is Coming in 2025

It’s a bountiful time to be a Witcher fan. We may be between seasons on the Netflix adaptation—and anxiously awaiting the arrival of Liam Hemsworth as the show’s new star—but Netflix also just announced yet another animated Witcher movie, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, which is reportedly based on the short story “A Little Sacrifice.”

And Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski says you don’t have that long to wait for a new Witcher book.

What that book is, though, no one really knows. IGN (via IGN Poland) reports that at Comic Con Vienna, Sapkowski said that the next book will publish in Poland in late 2024, and worldwide in early 2025. Sapkowski’s entire statement on what the book might be about was vague, and dry, and thoroughly un-revealing:

“[Netflix] made a series based on one short story. They forced me to continue,” he said. “I’m not complaining. Thanks to this, I now have enough money for the rent.”

They didn’t—as far as we know!—make a series based on just one short story (unless this is a reference to season four), but they are making a movie based on one short story, so potentially, he could be saying he’s continuing “A Little Sacrifice”? That’s how IGN’s writer interprets it, but it feels like a stretch.

There hasn’t been a Witcher novel since the prequel work Season of Storms—and 2018, when it was published in English, feels like practically a whole lifetime ago. By comparison, a year and a few months is just a brief lil’ span of time to wait to find out what he’s talking about.
